Julie Griner: Leading with Clarity and Conviction

Julie’s journey with Passages began in 2018, when she first traveled to Israel as a student. That experience, followed by a second trip as a fellow, became a defining foundation for how she understands Israel, leadership and her role in the world today.

Through her time in Israel, Julie encountered the country beyond headlines and narratives. Engaging directly with people, communities and complex realities gave her something lasting: a grounded perspective shaped by firsthand experience. She often reflects on that time as an anchor—one that continues to guide how she thinks, communicates and leads.

As conversations around Israel have grown more polarized in recent years, Julie has remained steady. Rather than being influenced by shifting narratives online, her perspective has been informed by what she witnessed and experienced on the ground. That clarity has allowed her to engage thoughtfully and confidently in difficult conversations.

Today, Julie brings that same discernment and leadership into her role on Capitol Hill, where she works in communications coordinating messaging and training among staff. The skills and perspective she developed through Passages continue to shape how she approaches her work in a fast paced and high stakes environment.

Julie’s story reflects the long term impact of the Passages experience. When students encounter Israel firsthand, they gain more than knowledge. They gain a foundation that equips them to lead with clarity, think critically and stand firm in moments that demand both courage and conviction.
